Hi everyone,

We are attempting an experiment over the Eastern Caribbean Region using TELEMAC2D with Algae Modelling to simulate the movement of Sargassum seaweed. However, we have run into issues with the drogues moving in a circular path or the drogues moving off the domain to 0, 0 location at certain times in the simulation. We are using forcing information from GFS for winds and pressure. We have attached the file used in the run. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Can you try to upload your files again, we cannot see them?
Be careful with the extensions of the files, everything is not allowed (.txt, .zip is OK e.g.).

Hi,

Sorry about that. I am not sure if my file is too large at 4MB to upload to the forum. I am attempting to add a .zip file which contains a CAS, a CLI, an I2S and a SLF file that were used in the simulation.
However, if the file gives problems again, I have included a path to access the same files below.

Hello Branden,

I only got 4 files from the provided link, in particular no BINARY ATMOSPHERIC DATA FILE or DROGUES INITIAL POSITIONING DATA FILE.
I am not a specialist of algae transport feature.

Anyway, I would recommend to proceed step by step:
- validate your hydrodynamic model without algae feature,
- add drogues to the pure hydro model to see if you also reproduce your issue,
- use a simpler algae model (1 algae class),
- do you have the same behaviour with another algae type?

Maybe try to use a coarser mesh to have quick results.
Try to start with parameters from canalalgae example.

When you write "drogues moving off the domain to 0, 0 location at certain times in the simulation", do you mean at certain time steps you do not have any algae in the area but it can appear again after?
Perhaps you have to enlarge the extent of your model.

Hope this helps,
