Which reference plane is this value relative to? Sea level, chart datum or other datum

Hi,

FREE SURFACE is for "free surface elevation" if you prefer.

BOTTOM and boundary condition must be consistent with the chosen reference.

-> FREE SURFACE value is relative to the same zero than your BOTTOM and your liquid boundary.

You are using TELEMAC-2D which is a depth-averaged model. As such velocities/currents output from the model are always depth-averaged. If you want surface currents you'll need to use TELEMAC-3D.

The free surface is exactly as per the physical meaning - the interface of air/water. If you're modelling tides then it'll be your tidal water level.
