open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Hello,

I am wondering how I should calculate the COEFFICIENT OF WIND INFLUENCE for my Telemac model or if I have to calculate it...

I read some stuff and decided for 1.2615E-6 is that right?
Or is there a way to calculate the COEFFICIENT OF WIND INFLUENCE with my wind data (speed and direction)?
I thought that the COEFFICIENT OF WIND INFLUENCE is more or less a constant number that suits every model....I am a bit confused....

Hello, since v8p2 you can setand TELEMAC2D will automatically calculate COEFFICIENT OF WIND INFLUENCE for you (see paragraph 6.3.1 Wind influence of the manual).

Thank you, since I am using an older Version it won't work. I tried to install v8p2r1 but it won't work with python 2.7 so I tried to install python3 but I can not compile it...and some libarys are missing....

Using Python 3 is now strongly recommended as Python 2.7 is not maintained anymore and neither are Python 2.7 TELEMAC scripts.

You can have a look at the Python and installation sections e.g.:

and also use the search feature of this forum where you can find many answers of know issues.

As Costas has already written, I would also recommend to use COEFFICIENT OF WIND INFLUENCE VARYING WITH WIND SPEED = YES (default value) and let TELEMAC-2D computes the coefficient for you.

Anyway, if you want to prescribe a constant value, you should read the TELEMAC-2D user manual available here:

and the dedicated section 6.3.1.

Icould install the new version of Telemac with python3 and it runs fine with the COEFFICIENT OF WIND INFLUENCE VARYING WITH WIND SPEED = YES!
