TOPIC: Tracer using sources file

Tracer using sources file 13 years 3 months ago #2004

Hello,

I am currently trying to add a time dependant tracer into my estuary simulation and have managed to add the imposed head due to the tides.

I am trying to add a tracer using the sources file, however when running with telemac 2d it only seems to see the Liquid boundaries file SL(1)

I have specified my Cas file as attached.

Would anybody be able to suggest a reason why it does not recognise/access the source file?
I have specified my boundary conditions as one liquid boundary (exit to the estuary) 5,4,4,4 as I have placed my source within the estuary.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Emma

Hi

before trying to help you to find a solution, here are some questions/remark

Which version of telemac did you use? (in your file we could see 5.7 which is quiet old and moreover not a free version - some options changed)

Could you add the sources files and the liquid file to check them?

In your file you never mention you want to simulate tracers (number of tracers = 1 in the last version or tracer = true in the past)

Hello,

A solution could be that the call to the subroutines with time dependence is subjected to the presence of the keyword :

VALUES OF THE TRACERS AT SOURCES

in the parameter file (the number of values to give is the number of tracers multiplied by the number of sources). You can see how it is implemented in subroutine bord.f.

WIth best regards,

Hi

Both files qsl.txt and sources.txt seems OK
Strange for the message about the keywords 'NUMBER OF TRACERS' and 'VALUES OF THE TRACERS AT THE SOURCES' which exist in the dictionary of v6.0

Could you join a copy of the log file and if possible, add the line &ETA at the end of the steering file.

Hi,

Yes I am using the latest version v6p0, sorry for the confusion. The sources file is attached I shall upload the liquid boundaries file in another reply.

I tried using 'number of tracers=1' and using 'VALUES OF THE TRACERS AT SOURCES =1' However I recieve the following error message:

'Le mot <NUMBER OF TRACERS> n'existe pas dans le dictionaire' Same happens with value of the tracers at the sources

Kind regards

Sorry for my ignorance, Where might I get the Log file from. I assume the line &ETA comes from this file?

Kind regards

Hi Emma

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.
At the end of your steering file (cas...), you add the keyword &ETA
The log file is the listing of the simulation. You could redirect the message on the screen in a file with the -s option when you launch telemac

Hello,

I tried using -s and putting &ETA at the bottom of my cas file. -s for some reason didn't create a log file for this simulation, however when trying it on a test case it worked perfectly.

Instead I directed Command line output directly into text file which is attached.

Thanks

Emma
