I have a simulated the steady state flow in a sloped U-bend. The solution converges nicely but the results are wrong because the free surface is uniform around the bend. What I should see is the water depth higher on the outer bend. Could anyone tell me what I've done wrong? I've attached the results file , all the files necessary to reproduce the simulation and the correct results from a River2D simulation.

Hello,

We do have the correct behaviour of free surface in bends. Check that you have a sufficient accuracy (if you have 0 iterations in the propagation step it means that you must increase the accuracy, otherwise nothing will move).

So I would try : SOLVER ACCURACY = 1.E-6

You can also try :

TYPE OF ADVECTION = 3;5 or 1;5 because advection scheme 6 is rather obsolete.

I tried your suggestions but I still get a uniform free surface throughout the domain. Is there anything I could try?

Hello Steve,
I see in your result file a water level difference of around 1.5 cm between the coordinates (3.40/0.00) and (5.10/0.00) with the higher water level at the outer bend.
Does this match the correct results from the River2D simulation?

thanks. I adjusted the scale on Blue Kenue and now the results look good. Figuring out how to use the active cursor also made it easier to analyze the results
