I have made some calculations by TELEMAC-2D, but when I have browsed the results, I have noticed that the free surface perpendicular to the flow is a straight line except near the banks where it rises to reach the highest level at the bank, and this is not logic. Can someone tell me what is the reason for that and what should I do.

The problem is showed in the attached f

Hello,

The free surface is just defined as the sum of the bottom and the depth, so on dry land it will give you the bottom topography. With the linear interpolation, it gives what you see on the figure. However Telemac has an algorithm to determine what element is dry or wet, and will not apply such driving terms as the gradient of the free surface if it is on dry land. So you have nothing special to do, it is just OK. What you can check is that if you have a lake at rest, with dry shores and with uneven bottom, there will be no movement of the water.

With best regards,
