Channel with incident wave 12 years 10 months ago #3523

Hello,

I am a new telemac user and I am trying to create a simple case to get started with the program.
I have a channel with two liquid boundaries one with an incident wave and the other a prescribed elevation. To set the incident wave I am using the SL subroutine similar to that of the wave validation case. However, no elevation changes are calculated on the boundary with the incident wave, like telemac is not reading the user fortran file.
Should I be using a different subroutine, INCIDE?

The wave validation case executes fine, can anyone point me in the direction where I am going wrong?

Thanks

Scott

hi
If you declare your boundary as an incident wave boundary telemac don't take the SL value into account.
Change the type of boundary condition from incident wave to impose level will probably solve your problem

Hope this helps

Hello,

You probably need to have the keyword:

PRESCRIBED ELEVATIONS : value1 ; value2 (as many as liquid boundaries)

in your steering file to trigger the call to SL. You can see how it is implemented in subroutine BORD. If the keyword is not given, the values in the boundary conditions file are taken.

Thank you both. Problem solved.

As a matter of interest in what conditions would you use the incident wave boundary condition?

Thanks again,

Scott

Hello,

In fact for me the incident wave boundary condition is now superseded by the Thompson boundary conditions, and has the same use.
