open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Hello everyone,

I try to create a very simple model. The bottom geometry is like that :

I started my model from the example "init_1". I changed the geometry file to mine (slf format and created with blue kenue), redefined the boundary condition (imposed discharge upstream and imposed elevation downstream) and the time steps.

As in the example init_1, i drowned all my model of water and injected an increasing discharge upstream. I set the initial condition to "constant elevation" (same elevation as the downstream boundary condition).

The init_1 model works well on my configuration. My model, even if it is very close from the init_1 model, does not. The few first time step, nothing happened (no velocity), then the calcul diverged.

I don't know why. I should have miss something.

Hi Alex,

Your reach the maximum of iterations for the solver because your time step is very high. With a time step of 1s the code performs very well.

Indeed, it's working with a very small time step.

The init_1 model has a time step of 10s, so i never try something lower thinking my model was simpler and so would converge more easily. I was wrong.
