Hi

I am trying to run a simulation using a previous computational file, which corresponds to the result file of a 24 hour simulation and I would like to use it to start the computation of a longer simulation. I have used the following commands:
COMPUTATION CONTINUED = YES
PREVIOUS COMPUTATION FILE = Previous computational file.slf
INITIAL TIME SET TO ZERO = YES

However, I am no able to run the simulation. I am attaching my case and the output file of the unsuccessful simulation.

Also I was reading in the manual and it says that it is recommended to extract the last time step using the LastSela utility I was curious on how to do this.

Thanks

Viviana

Hi

It looks like a problem of corrupted previous file
You could check you're able to read it with BK or Fudaa.
If no problems are detected, in fudaa (for example) you could export the result as a new selafin file and select only the last time step

Hi

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I am able to open the file in BK and Tecplot. However, I am not sure how should I select the last time step using BK. I was trying to save the last frame of each variable to a file, but the file contains all the time steps, so I am not sure how to create a new Selafin with just the last time step.

Thanks again

Hello,

There is no specific need to select the last time-step, it is recommended just to have a smaller restart file. If you can read your file with Blue Kenue could it be that you moved from Linux to Windows or vice-versa. The Telemac file standard is IEEE Big_endian which is not native on Windows and must be forced by a compiler option. Blue Kenue is able to find whether the file is big or little_endian, and thus does not see the problem.

With best regards,

Hi
I think I kind of understand what the problem might be, my results file might be corrupted. However, I am still not sure how to make it work. I ran a simulation and have all the results in the cluster and then when I try to run a new simulation using the previous results is when I am getting the error:

PLANTE: PROGRAM STOPPED AFTER AN ERROR
EXITING PVM: CALLING P_EXIT

Thanks

Hi
Hard to say without anymore information
May we have a copy of the listing?
If you use the first result as the previous file for the 2nd computation without any other manipulation it should works.

I think that I might have downloaded the results file to my computer (windows) to open it in BK and Tecplot and then reloaded again to the cluster. So, does this mean that I am not able to use this file for the 2nd computation?

Which listings should I send you??

Thanks

Hi
You could try to make the same simulation without download and upload the relut file fron the cluster to yoru computer.
This allow you to check that the telemac installation is OK.
At the end of the first calc, just run the 2nd computation with the first result as previous computational file.

When I said listing I mean the output file which is generate with the -s option but a copy of messages on the console could also be sufficient.
Here you just report the error message but we don't have any idea of the moment of this error appear. In the computation? During the preparation of the computation?

Hi

Thanks, I will try to re-run the simulation from the beginning and then I can test the computation continue in a 2nd computation.

I also though the listing is my output file but I got confused because I have send it before in my first message. I am attaching it again.

Thanks

Viviana
