Hello Chi-Tuan,Sebourban,everybody,

thanks Chi-Tuan,

My tracer is just fresh-water with unsignifient polluant.

I have just to modelize the reject of fresh water, in the sea;
considering just the transport of "fresh water" molecule.

Thanks in advance.

best regards

Hello Sobo634,

If you only need a coarse result for your plume in horizontal directions, TELEMAC-2D may be sufficient.
In my opinion, as fresh water and sea water have different densities, TELEMAC-3D with non hydrostatic option should be tried (see e.g. lock exchange test case), in particular to check if TELEMAC-2D give too coarse results or not. Moreover, if you are interested in investigating the vertical distribution of your plume, then TELEMAC-3D must be chosen.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Hello Chi-Tuan, Sebourban, everybody;

I think that in TELEMAC 2D, I can choose the cinematic viscosity (in m^2 s^-1);
one for the Velocity of the flow; an other cinematic viscosity for the tracer.

So probaly I can give the cinematic viscosity of sea water for the Velocity;
and the cinematic viscosity of fresh water for the tracer?

How to do that ?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards

Hello,

Have you read TELEMAC-2D user manual? French and English versions are available in Home section, then Manuals then TELEMAC-2D. You can learn a lot of things...

Hello Again,

Thanks Chi-Tuan,

When you said that the density of fresh water and sea water are differents;
am I rigth with two cinematic viscosity :dry: ?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

In my opinion, the two viscosity coefficients will rather help you to calibrate your model. Other users may have a different opinion, I let them talk.

Hi
Personally, I think the difference of viscosity between sea water and fresh water will be small and the effect will be limited.
On another side, I think it's very complex to manage two fluids in telemac2D with only a passive tracer...
With a tracer, in 2D, the only result is a concentration averaged on the water depth. so you could obtain a result if you release a tracer with 0 as concentration in a model where the initial concentration is 30 (for example) but that's all. The evolution in time of the plume will be not realistic in 2D ...

Christophe
