Hi,

Personnally, I consider friction coefficient as a coefficient to calibrate velocities rather than a coefficient with an accurately physical meaning connected to the type of bottom. Nevertheless, friction coefficient should remain in a realistic range of values.

Just for your information Hanna, I compared results coming from TELEMAC-2D and TELEMAC-3D over the same areas and both codes gave me rather similar results. You may try, I would be interested in the comparison of your results. You can start from the equivalent test case 123_tide in 3D (in particular for the steering file).
In my opinion, the origin of your bathymetric data should be investigated. Can you just try to interpolate free bathymetric data (or other free bathymetric data if you have already used one set) on your mesh and try to run your simulation again?

Chi-Tuan
