Dear All,

I am using Telemac2d for doing some flood plain inundation modeling, I was wondering if its possible to start the simulation with no water in the domain. I do know that the most preferred for 2D modeling is flow at the upstream end and stage at the downstream end but if I want the domain to be empty initially then what will be downstream boundary condition.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Sumit

Hello Sumit,

There are two test cases of dam break simulation (one theoretical dam break - initially dry bed, and the famous Malpasset dam break) available in the validation directory and described in the validation document. Both start over dry areas (at least partly). This may help you.

Personnally, as you cannot prescribe anything for downstream boundary condition, I would use 4 4 4 code in the boundary condition file.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan
