TOPIC: High currents at the boundary nodes

High currents at the boundary nodes 11 years 9 months ago #7629

Hi,

I am running a case when I have imposed tides and current varying in time at space at the boundary nodes. The currents imposed at the boundary node does not exceed 1.1 m/s. However after the simulation run I get very high currents of magnitude of about 3.15 m/s as shown in the figure.

What could be the reason of this error.

Regards,
Gourish

Hello,

Do you mean that the values of UBOR and VBOR that you set in the subroutine BORD are not found in the results ? Did you print them at this level ?

Hi,
Yes, there was a mistake in the analysis of the results.

I printed out the results at the boundaries, and found that the values at the boundaries are proper, as given in BORD subroutine. The high currents are seen at nodes which follow the boundary nodes towards right. Another point to be noted is that these boundary nodes are in the inter tidal area near to which the high current follows. i.e the value of BOTTOM variable at these nodes is above 0. Can the error be contributed because of these nodes are in the intertidal region?

I am trying a case now where no forcing is given to the boundary nodes which lie in the intertidal zone.

Thanks,
Gourish
