Hi,

I had a case where I needed to model Jetty piles, in which I had two option

1) to generate small island structure of very small dimension (of 2 m) which will block the flow of water.
2) use the VERTICAL STRUCTURE option in TELEMAC 2d.

In the sample case attached I am using vertical structure to model circular obstruction to flow of water, as shown in the figure below

I have used the same technique as in case 122_drag from the validation cases, however the vertical structure are given as polygons specified in a formatted file.

Apparently when I run the case I am not able to notice the obstruction to the flow in results.

Do I need to change the porosity value or is it some other parameter, which should be included?

Thanks,
Gourish

Hello,

Yes, the vertical structure feature only gives the head loss, the obstruction effect is given by the porosity. You can see the test case 230_porosite.
