TELEMAC-2D units question 11 years 3 weeks ago #10860

Hello all,

I am putting together a T2D/BK tutorial for a class and the data set I am using is in US customary units. It would be easy enough to convert the projection from feet to meters, but I wanted to ask if TELEMAC-2D has a KEYWORD for switching to US customary units, or if SI units are used exclusively?

Thank you!

Hello Chris

For Telemac, SI is exclusively used. However, if you introduce a water depth in feet for eg., it will work but it will not give correct results. To switch to the US customary units or to the British Imperial system, too many changes are needed in the code (thresholds, frictions, constants for forces and energy, ...)
Thus, as far as I know, there is no automatic switch (such as keyword) which allows the use of other unit systems.

With my best regards
Riadh
