Hello all,

I am having problems when I am trying to run a simulation using Telemac-2D. All the input files are being read properly, however no iterations are taking place. Please find attached a screenshot of the command prompt and the cas file.

Thanks,

Divya

Hello,

Difficult to say, I do not see GRAPHIC PRINTOUT PERIOD, the default is 1 so you will have a very big results file. Try to add DEBUGGER : 1 in your steering file so that you see where it stops.

Hello Jean-Michel,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have added a graphic printout period =20 and the debugger =1 as you suggested. However, there is no change in the situation.

Hello,

Yes, but where does the listing stop ? Do you have something printed, like the number of points in the mesh, a header saying iteration 0, etc., just to know if it is in the computation or if there is even no run. DEBUGGER = 1 gives every call in the main program telemac2d.f so you should see this.

Hello,

Yes, the computation takes place but I am getting a results file with no values. I have attached screenshots.

Hello,

Sounds strange. Could you test:

NUMBER OF TIME STEPS = 1
LISTING PRINTOUT PERIOD = 1
GRAPHIC PRINTOUT PERIOD = 1

to see if we have a normal end of the program and if the results file is written.

Note also that INITIAL ELEVATION and PRESCRIBED ELEVATIONS are real numbers, and they are 1 and 0 in your file, is it a big step that you want at time t=0 ?

Hello,

I did as you suggested. The computation went through and a results file was generated. However, the max and min for U, V and H are 0. I have been getting such a results file even when I have keep Number of time steps as 20160.

Hello,

OK, I understand more. So it is just a mistake in your data, e.g. in boundary conditions file, probably you have a problem in boundary conditions.
I understand that you have 1 open boundary with prescribed elevation 0. and initial elevation in the domain equal to 1. So the water should exit through this boundary. You should check in your boundary conditions file that you indeed have one open boundary condition.

Hi,

Yes, I have one open boundary. I checked my boundary conditions file. I dont see anything wrong with it. I have attached it in case you want to have a look.

Thanks,

Divya

Hello,

Yes you have one boundary with prescribed depth, it is OK, so the last thing that can be wrong is the liquid boundaries file (probably your data giving the elevation at boundary 1 are not recognised), if you do not find I would need all your files to test the case.

With best regards,
