Dear all,

I try to run the flow simulation on a canal, but it is always have some bugs inside. I have bothered more than two weeks. Is any one would kindly help me to solve this. Regards,

I upload all the ducuments in the attachment

Many thanks,

Regards,

Hello,

It is difficult to help you if you do not describe the problems you encounter. In your steering file you should:

* remove the line STEERING FILE = ... (not useful and drives you mad if you change the name)

* put VELOCITY DIFFUSIVITY = 1.E-6 (as you use the k-epsilon model it has to be the molecular viscosity)

However, to clear up problems I would start from a simpler tuning:

LAW OF FRICTION ON LATERAL BOUNDARIES =0
TURBULENCE MODEL =1
VELOCITY DIFFUSIVITY =0.1

with best regards,

Thank you jmhervouet,

First I make mesh and then setting inlet flowrate and outlet elevation(this part is without problem) .

and then setting initial condition (I think it is has some problem on the water depth setting)

and then setting the other parameters according to the instruction.

Then run the steering file. The program can be run. but always show the as following,

and the result of the simulation is become to 0

Hello,

The first test obviously crashes somewhere, the second try is much better (could it be that you have dry zones in the initial conditions ?).

Anyway it is strange that Python cannot write on the results file, are you using it concurrently with a post-processor? What could be the other process using it ?

Many thanks Jmhervouet.

I only use BlueKenue to build the mesh and use fudaa to steering the files.

I didn't use other process or software. But I think i do use dry zones in the initial conditons. I will try it immediately and let you know the results.

Thanks again

Dear J. M. H,

I think the initial condition is not dry. See the picture,

I found the problem is the result file I didn't add XX.slf in it.

But the water depth and velociy is highly inaccurate, Do there have any information that could setting reasonable flow rate and outlet elevation.

Hello,

Now you should wait for the flow to settle and become steady before commenting on the results, it may take some time for the flow to go from upstream to downstream, and for the downstream boundary condition to propagate upstream. In the while you will get only a transitory flow.

Hello,

I see on the picture that there are large zones with depth = 0, so you should add keywords to monitor tidal flats :

TIDAL FLATS : YES
OPTION FOR THE TREATMENT OF TIDAL FLATS : 1

and perhaps :

OPTION FOR THE TREATMENT OF NEGATIVE DEPTHS : 2

but this does not explain why Python cannot give back the file, is this problem still there ?

regards,

JMH
