Hello,
I m an engineer intern and i have to simulate the water flow in a basin. I have developped a python script to create all the needed files (which I have attached to the message). But when I try to run the simulation I get an index error: " index '-2129519352' of dimension 1 of array 'nbor' below lower bound of 1"
When I try to run it again I get another error:
Program received signal SIGSEGV: Segmentation fault - invalid memory reference
I may have have made a mistake but I have checked the files and compared them with a working run and now I m really clueless and I need some help.
Thanks for helping a beginner.

Hello

I think that your Python tools do not satisfy Telemac format (Serafin standard for geometry file) and boundary conditions file.
It is much more easier to use (free) pre-prossing tools such as Blue Kenue which allows you to generate automatically these two files.

with my best regards

The python tool has been developed by someone else and it writes the geometry files in serafin format that should
. I developed the part for boundary conditions myself but they should be correct as I respected the format. I joined the file because only the image was attached to my first message.

File Name: basin_16_4_2_1.slf
File Size: 4 KB

Thanks for your help I will consider using tools as blue kenue.

Thanks Sébastien it should ne something like this. Do You mean that the triangle ids should be counter clockwise around the basin? Or that the point ids should be counter clockwise around the triangles?
Could you tell me with what software you vizualized it. It could be really helpful?
Thanks for the answers!

Maxime

Hello,

Your mesh is not strictly of the SLF format: You have 81 counter-clockwise elements and 81 clockwise elements -- with TELEMAC all should be counter-clockwise.

Hope this helps,
Sébastien.

(I use Blue Kenue)

Each triangle in IKLE is defined by 3 nodes.
The order in which they appear in IKLE defines the orientation of each triangle.

So in your SLF your IKLE is wrong -- you can use Blue Kenue to get them back to counter-clockwise, and then to create your CONLIM file.

Do check the Blue Kenue Manual

Hope this helps,
Sébastien.

Ok thanks for the explaining it, I should be able to fix it now.
Thank you very much for your help. Both on this problem and my ban problem!
Best regards

Hello,

If you can send me the complete case that crashes with wrong element orientation, I would like to see if we cannot get a clearer message. Normally there is a clear stop, and we seem to be stopped even before it.

With best regards,

Hello,
sorry to answer late, my ip-adress at work has been banned again on opentelemac.
which files do you need? because for some of them I might have to ask to my tutor.
But I would be glad to help!

Hello Maxime,

You seem to be banned from the site because of too many login failures -- if you are not doing this, maybe someone else is trying to use your login with the wrong password.

I have authorized your IP again.

Hope this helps.
Sébastien.
