Dear all,

I have a simple question, what is the process to extract the tidal data of TPXO database?

I have a file "OTPS" with go.exe, and many fortran files but I can't execute the DOS cmd !!!

Have you got a process or example file to extract a local tidal data?

Best regard,

Hi
Telemac manage automatically the call to the tidal database so it's not really clear why you want to extract local data.
Maybe you should be clearer in your request.

As mentioned in comment #19953, if my model is in Australia, so I should use TPXO database.

Follow this post, you said "Telemac manage automatically the call to the tidal database". So, I just want to explain what I am doing and facing before asking you questions:

If I use a keyword: TIDAL DATA BASE = 2 (TPXO, - Reference Manual p.65), I have also to use a keyword: TIDAL MODEL FILE (*.slf), HARMONIC CONSTANT FILE (*.txt), ASCII DATABASE FOR TIDE (*.txt).

The problem is: I haven't known how to create or obtain these files. Although I go on the OSU website and download TPXO database and its software, I am still not able to use it.

My questions are:

1. Could you please give me some hints to make tidal model file?

2. Do you have TPXO database for tide (*.txt) and Harmonic constant file (*.txt)? could you give those files to me?

I must highly appreciate your support!

Best Regards

Huy

Hi

With TPXO, you don't have to give the same information as you use the JMJ database.
With TIDAL DATA BASE = 2
you should have:
BINARY DATABASE 1 FOR TIDE where you indicate the location of the TPXO database for Water Depth
BINARY DATABASE 2 FOR TIDE where you indicate the location of the TPXO database for Velocity

You could also have MINOR CONSTITUENTS INFERENCE

In order to well define your location (for the use of TPXO), you should also define:
GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM and ZONE NUMBER IN GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM

and that's all!

Thanks Christophe,

Now I have picked up something more. So, now I need a Fortran file to read BINARY DATA 1&2 FOR TIDE? This is my key concern right now? As I don't know much about Fortran, could you please help me with that?

Thank you a lot

NO
It's already coded in telemac, there is nothing more to add.

Dear Christophe,

I got errors when running my model. Please see a image below, and help me to sort it out.

By the way, I would attach my steering file here. Could you have a look for me?

Best Regards

Hi
As your files of the TPXO database has .NC extension, I suspect you download the netcdf version.
Download the "normal" version, the daatbale should not have .NC at the end and this will works

Bonjour,
Thank you very much for your answer. I go on the OSU website and download TPXO database and its software, I am still not able to use it. Could you explain to me how to extract velocity and water depth from this database?
Eventually could you extract for me OSU conditions for mediterranian area?

Thanks in advance.
Best regards.
Sarah
