To use TPXO in Telemac, there is no extraction. You just have to declare the file of the database and Telemac will automatically search the data it needs

Regarding TPXO tidal data, there are TWO components you have to download:

For example (version 7.2): h_tpxo7.2 and u_tpxo7.2

In your steering file you have to use the following keywords:

BINARY DATABASE 1 FOR TIDE :h_tpxo7.2

BINARY DATABASE 2 FOR TIDE :u_tpxo7.2

TIDAL DATA BASE : 2

You can have a look at the location /examples/telemac2d/tide/ which will give you a quick start as how to use TPXO forcing.

You may also check the Telemac user manual at
www.opentelemac.org/index.php/manuals/su...-user-manual-en-v7p0 which will give a brief explanation about TPXO and other tidal harmonics.

There are also lots of topics in the forum about this topic.

I have attached an example case which you can have a look, it uses TPXO forcing.

I succeded in using tpxo7.2 datas with your explications. Thank you very much! I tried to do the same with mediterranian datas (OSU datas) but files extensions are different and Telemac doesn't seem to read them.
Can somebody help me?

Hello Sarah,

TPXO database for Mediterranian region give two formats.
One the binary format at
ftp://ftp.oce.orst.edu/dist/tides/regional/med.tar.Z

And the other in netcdf format at
ftp://ftp.oce.orst.edu/dist/tides/regional/Med_netcdf.tar.Z

Download the binary format data mentioned earlier and try using it in the model run.
It should possibly work

You can download the global atlas (v7.2 at 1/4° resolution) from the official web site, here:
ftp://ftp.oce.orst.edu/dist/tides/Global/tpxo.tar.Z

A more recent version (v8 at 1/30° resolution) also exists:
ftp://ftp.oce.orst.edu/dist/tides/TPXO8_...las_compact_v1.tar.Z

You can also have a look to regional atlases.
