Dear all,
I use Telemac 2D, version v6p3 (parallel mode). I would like to define a weir in my network. I already run example (WEIR) in the test case of telemac 2D. It works seem good. Unfortunately, I can't setup the weir in my network (the simulation failed if I defined a weir in the network). Any one can told me any experience or attention when I prepare the network or define the two side of weir? Did we must to respect some thing when I define the network? Thank you very much in advance.
Best regards

Hello Thong,

Originally the weir was defined as a cut in the mesh, with disconnected meshes and an equal number of points on either side. Recently there was a new development allowing a different number of points. However it seems to me that it still must be disconnected meshes, but I am not sure. What is the error message ?

With best regards,

Dear Mr. J. M. Hervouet;
Thank you very much for your response. In fact, I would like to define the roads (used the option with close line in Blue Kenue software to defined its) in my network (delta of Mekong river). Firstly, I consider that the roads is too high and there aren't overflowing. The simulation works seem good and correctly. Secondly, I consider some road where the water can overflow thanks to define as the weir. The run failed when the level of water reach at top of weir!
What do you think if I define the roads which works as a dike? Of course, in this case, my network and topography will be differently prepare. One more time, thank you alot, my dear J. M.
With my best regards

Hello Thong,

Of course describing the roads as dykes is another possibility, but it will require some refinement of the mesh. We would prefer understanding why your case does not work, could you tell us what kind of failure you have ?

Regards,

Jean-Michel

Dear Mr. J. M. Hervouet,
I'm looking for the reason why the program is failed (telemac version v6p3). The program runs in parallel mode on a station. You can tell me where I find the message in which there are all necessary informations? Up to now I just observed that the program was failed when the water level reach at the top of weir. I will get out some information thanks to my fortran to understand the problem. If you have some suggestion to find this error, it will be very good to me. Thank you very much in advance.

Hello,

It could be that the message is in one of the log files of other processors than number 0, in the temporary folder. If you cannot find it, then try a serial case. If it works then it would be a problem of parallelism and we would need the whole case to run it.

With best regards,

Hello J. M. Hervouet,
Thank you very much for your help. I send you some attached file that shows unstable simulation. I would like to run a simulation of 10 days. Firstly, I don't defined a weir in my mesh. The simulation runs seem correctly. Secondly, I defined a weir of 3 points each side (file Dap_Tran.txt). After about 6 days of simulation, the program was unstable (copy of screen attached).
Best regards

Hi, can I create a weir when weir and incoming flow is parallel?

It's possible but maybe not necessarily very relevant as the water level upstream (and downstream) is considered to be constant along the weir...
Hope this helps
