element number for drogues seems to be wrong in parallel model 9 years 2 months ago #18266

Hi everyone,

I added some drogues in computation, and I donnot need the precise location of them, the element number where the drogues in it is enough for my case. I read the DERIVE routine, it seems that ELTFLO record the element number, so I output ELTFLO(IFLOT).

After the normal run, I checked the element and x,y coordinate, but they do not match. I guess this maybe caused by parallel run, while I just think there is no problem with ELTFLO(IFLOT).

Does someone have experiences deal with that?

Best regards,

Viola

Hello,

In parallel mode, the value in ELTFLO is in local numbering, so you will get a different value than in scalar mode, however the x,y coordinates should be the same, but they are probably correct only in the sub-domain that contains the particle. Actually the tag of the particle is the only way to follow it, as particles may also have different numbers depending on the sub-domain they are in... anyway you can check if things are correct in the final result.

Dear JMH,
Thank you very much for your so quick reply. Well, I got what you have said and the best way to deal with that for me maybe is to play with the output file after the run.

Dear JMH,

I want to ask another simple question, what is the default value of NFLOT_MAX, and in which file can I make a change of this value? Thanks.

Best regards,

Viola

Dear Viola,

In fact it corresponds to the keyword "number of drogues", which is taken as a maximum. Then the real number increases as soon as the user introduces drogues, and must not trespass NFLOT_MAX.
