Hello Telemac users,
I'm working on a "lagoon type" geometry with a steep slope, a reef crest where waves are breaking, a shallow lagoon (about 2 m) and a sand beach. I am trying to evaluate the elevation of the free surface near the beach considering different waves heights and directions.
I did some tests on a small area and I have coupled Tomawac with Telemac and the following parameters :
- Telemac 2D Saint Venant EF with primitive equations
- Telemac 2D Boussinesq with primitive equations
- Telemac 3D non-hydrostatic version with complete Saint Venant, primitive equations and 3 plans
Results are very similar for Boussinesq and Saint Venant EF.
Telemac 3D gives slightly different results especially near the beach (and also some oscillations that doesn't exist in 2D).
My questions are :
Is Telemac coupled with Tomawac a valid approach for my case (computation of the wave run-up) ?
What model should I use ? After reading this
topic, I'm still confused about the differences between the 3 solutions.
I have attached my steering files and the profile of my test area.
Thank you for your help,
Loïc
