Dear all,
I am trying to make a case study of a channel of about 140m with almost no slope to simulate a uniform discharge (cf. Photo-channel). The given boundary condition is a constant Q=2m3/s for entrance. I want to leave a free outlet as the BC at the end of channel.
***Simulation files are attached***

I create the geometry file in a correct way but when I run the simulation, the error message appears indicating that “Trying another language … The geometry file est Inconnu… Process ECR: didi not creat outfile” and the simulation is stopped (cf. Photo-error)!!

I tried many times to re-create the geometry file or changing the keywords, but I got the same error.

-> Could anybody please help me where is the problem?

->Another question is how can I give two different water depths as initial condition one in inlet and other one in outlet? I know this is "easy" but in my case it does not works!!!

->Moreover using the keyword for PRESCRIBED FLOWRATE seems me not working, I wonder where is my problem. That’s why I gave a liquid boundary file for constant Q in outlet.

Kind regards,
Gashin

Hello,

This is rather a configuration problem, do you use Perl or Python ? The message "trying another language" can be normal (The program called damocles starts in French, and shifts to English when a keyword is unknown), but then it should find the geometry file. As it is the first keyword in the file it may be due to some file edition problem, e.g. a Linux file used with Windows, with carriage returns at the end of lines which are not recognised. First try a test case in the examples to see if installation is correct, this will give an additional hint on where the problem is. If it works try to start from a steering file that works or write a new steering file from scratch.

Dear Jean-Michel,
Thanks for the response.
I'm using Python. Actually I'm simulating my complete case on Windows and Linux without such problem, so that could not probably be the configuration. I used the slash at the end and also re-write the line but no change!

surprisingly I set the LAW OF BOTTOM FRICTION to 0 and no friction coef., it worked! What could be the reason in your opinion?

Another question is, how can I find a complete description of Telemac2D model in detail in particulat the keywords and their specific applications, equations, etc.? Is there any refrence for that?

kind regards,
Gashin

Hello,

So it was definitely a problem with some trailing characters or carriage returns in your file and editing it again has cured the problem.

Besides all the documentation on this website (see e.g. the guide to programming in the Telemac system) you have a full description in my book, but it is sold by Wiley so I cannot give you a pdf equivalent, though it seems that it can be found on Internet. The next time you come to Chatou we can give you a number of extra documents.
