Hello,

I am trying to run my simulation but it keeps giving an error that I need to give a velocity profile; which I have specified as 3. however, it also wants me to check the water depth which in this case I donot have the data for.

Can someone please help me. I am attaching my files with this.

Hello

This could be just a problem of dry liquid boundary. If your liquid boundary (with prescribed discharge) is being dry, this cause troubles to the computation while water depth is used to compute the prescribed velocity.
Very often, large time steps can cause this kind of problems when dealing with cold start, so try to decrease it.

I hope that this helps

with my best regards

Thank you so much for your suggestion. I am actually using real time data and I dont have data with reduced time steps so I cant do that. Do you have any other suggestions?

Hello

You are using latitude-longitude coordinates in your geometry file but you do not tell that to Telemac !
you need to add several keywords to give a complete information about your geometry:
SPATIAL PROJECTION TYPE =3
SPHERICAL COORDINATES=YES
...

Please refer to the user manual to see other options that could be suitable for your case

Moreover, you have a cold start (inital elevation=constant everywhere) which could be very brutal for the code, please decrease time step in order to smooth the case.
Finally in your liquid file, you start with a discharge=0 which is not recommanded.

Hello,

Since I donot know any Fortran, I changed the coordinate system of my GIS files and did everything again. However, for this first case I stated the SL in my liquid file as 0 but what if I dont give a water depth value? As I am dealing with real time data and I dont have data regarding it.

Hello

Your question is not clear for me.
If you give an elevation as boundary condition, Telemac will compute water depth using the bathymetry and the given elevation.
You can give elevation which varies in time using LIQUID BOUNDARY FILE. Please refer to the user manual for more details.

Thank you for your insight but my question is not regarding the elevation. The simulation runs if I give a value for water depth along with my flowrate (which in my case I am just doing so in order to run my simulation) but in reality I dont have any data regarding water depth.

And I checked that if my liquid file just contains time and flowrate the simulation does not run. I can attach both the liquid files. It runs with the first one but not with the second one.

I see that you have inverted the second and the third column in your liquid boundary file. Is it this the cause of your troubles ?

No actually. I have attached two files the 1st one contains the t, Q and SL while the 2nd file only contains t and Q only. Since in reality I dont have data for SL I cant just assume it for my project. When I just use t and Q, I have error in my simulation. I hope I was able to explain it better this time.
