Hallo,

I do a simulation of a river channal with flow on floodplains. I recognized a transversal slope of the water level in bends but not in straight regions.

I want to ask if TELEMAC-2D is able to simulate such a transversal slope correctly? Because I found in the literature that 2D-Models dont calculate the secondary flow which is caused by centrifugal force in bends.

I use default settings for my simulation. My cas. file is appended.

Thank You very much!

Hello,

I think that yes, you may have the transversal slope without the secondary currents, which are second order effects of the bend. It is like with the wind, in 2D we have the correct slope, even if we do not have the upwelling effect.
