TOPIC: Issue using TELEMAC-2D (FVM) and SISYPHE

Issue using TELEMAC-2D (FVM) and SISYPHE 6 years 3 months ago #31077

Hello,

Some time ago I already encountered a strange behaviour of the results produced by SISYPHE. Since I encountered this problem in the trunk version I didn't go into much detail. However, I compiled v7p3r1 and I witnessed the same behaviour.

After some troubleshooting I found that the FV method seems to be the problem for me.

Therefore, I ran the bump2d testcase with the FE (standard) and the FV method. Despite some minor differences, the hydrodynamic results (T2D result file) look quite similar. However, looking at the SISYPHE result file there seems to be a problem. I assume it is a post-processing problem, since the hydrodynamic file changes reasonable in time.

It is also possible that I made some wrong settings. I added only the following part to the end of the cas file:

EQUATIONS ='SAINT-VENANT VF'
FINITE VOLUME SCHEME = 5
VARIABLE TIME-STEP = true
DURATION = 360000
DESIRED COURANT NUMBER = 0.95

Attached you can find the result for e.g. the flowrate Q of the bump2d case.

Cheers,

Sebastian

Hello Sebastian,

Could you please attach your model files?
I would like to take a deeper look at your FV model and the parameters you used to set it up.

Best Regards,
José Andrés.

Hello José

I tested this issue for the bump2d case (standard SISYPHE). The FE Method is the standard model, which can be found in the svn repository (svn.opentelemac.org/svn/opentelemac/tags...mples/sisyphe/bump2d)

For the FV Method I used the attached T2D cas file. I didn't commend keywords that are not used in the FV method (e.g. TURBULENCE MODEL = 1), but as far as I know this shouldn't cause the issue. Furthermore, I did not change the standard SISYPHE cas file from the bump2d test case.

Cheers,
Sebastian

Hello,
I had similar problem in v7p3, but if I run the simulation in v7p2, the results looks good.
