TOPIC: Error when simulate non-cohesive sediment as bedload and suspended

Error when simulate non-cohesive sediment as bedload and suspended 2 years 2 months ago #40918

Dear ALL,

I would like to simulate the morphological changes in a river. My sediment type is only non-cohesive sediment from the riverbed. The upstream boundary is clear water and no sediment input. When I would like to simulate the non-cohesive sediment as both bed-load and suspended load, I face an error shown in the photo. However, the model worked well when only bedload is considered. I am really confused about it. I attached my steering file of gaia. Hope anyone can help me.

Regards
LIN

Dear Lin,

you can not use the Bijker formula for calculating the reference concentration together with multi-layer model (see suspension_compute_cae.f line 71ff). Actually I don't know why because I have not used the Bijker Formula. You can choose 1, 3 or 4 for
SUSPENSION TRANSPORT FORMULA FOR ALL SANDS and multi-layer model. I would propose to use 3 van Rijn formula for rivers.
Best regards,
Rebekka
