hi everyone,

may your week ahead bring you happiness, peace and unexpected blessing.

currently I'm doing coupling TELEMAC2D and SISYPHE. however it stop at day 6 of simulation as shown in the figure I had attached which it said error in layer case 4. can somebody explain about this error. what is the factor of the error and how do I need to encounter this issue.

also attached here the steering file for both TELEMAC2D and SISYPHE.

thank you in advanced for your kindly attention and help.

regards,
Shahirah

Hello Shahirah,

When there is the error message "PLANTE: PROGRAM STOPPED AFTER AN ERROR", that means that the error was expected by the developer of the subroutine.
Usually, there is another error message just 2 or more lines above. In that case, you can read: "ERROR IN LAYER CASE 4" which seems to be a SISYPHE error message.
You should have written your post in the dedicated section (I have just moved it) to find better answers than mine. I do not know SISYPHE, but I think there is an error in your layer 4 ;)

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Hi Shahirah,

I wrote a reply earlier, but it seems to have disappeared, that or I never pressed send... (the latter is more likely :silly:)

I can't promise any help, but I was curious and searched the source code for "LAYER CASE 4" and found it in $HOMETEL/sources/sisyphe/layer.f ; the relevant code seems to be changing the grain size fractions in the active layer. The CASE 4 throwing an error because it's detecting that a grain size fraction is greater than 100% or less than 0% (which is physically impossible). It therefore seems there is some numerical instability linked to a grain size fraction overdepositing or overeroding.

I would recommend attempting to recover the simulation files using this procedure and seeing if there are any weird points with an exceptionally high or low fraction of a certain class, perhaps near the boundary.

Again, I'm not sure that I can help any further, but do try looking at your intermediate results and seeing if anything is wrong.

Hope this helps,
André Renault
