Hi again,
I am still running some old cases on reservoir flushing from vp61 on the new vp62 version.
I noticed some differences.
First, as posted some month ago, I tried to run some simulations with bed load and multiple grain sizes. The runs with the new vp62 version crash after a view time steps with an error in layer case 5 ( 18,000), whereas the same simulations with the identical cas-files run on vp61 more than 180,000 time steps (correct end of run).
Second, I tried to run some single grain simulations again and the results in bed shear stress and evolution are different for vp62 and vp61.
Apparently some kind of “dune-algorithm” has been implemented in the vp62 version, because I get dune migration on the river bed (not for vp61). The simulations are without skin friction correction. The variable “Bed shear stress” gives in the vp62 different values from vp62.
Here are the calculated bed shear stresses for vp61 after 900s:
and the calculated bed shear stresses for vp62 after 900s:
How to get rid of this dune migration again??
What can I change to improve the run time in vp62??
Many thanks,
Gabriele
