TOPIC: zero solid discharge

zero solid discharge 10 years 1 month ago #14345

Please can anybody help me with the following problem

I have an inflow boundary where I want ideally to set a concentration of sediment and have zero solid discharge at the inflow (discharge) boundary
the liquid boundary for the flow is provided to telemac2d. I have also make the channel section at the boundary and for a distance downstream rigid as the bed is bedrock and the velocities are high and would scour to unrealistic depths if set as non-rigid

My problem is that when I set the concentration (imposed Boundary KENT = 5) using the keyword "Concentration per class at boundaries" or including it in the cli file to be a value and prescribe solid discharge at the boundary to be 0.0 I am getting a bedload flux at the boundary.

Even when I set the solid discharge and the concentration to be zero I am still getting a bedload flux. How do I stop this or what am I doing wrong??

my cli file for this boundary
is
4 5 5 0.0 0.0 0.0 5 0.0 . . . .

I would really appreciate any advise on this

Hi Tony,

you can divine the sediment inflow with the subroutine CONLIT.
If you set for example QBOR%ADR(1)%P%R(K)=0.D0, the sediment inflow for the first sediment class is 0.

Hi Gabi,

I have changed QBOR%ADR(1)%P%R(K)=0.D0 in the Conlit subroutine but to no avail (no effect on solid discharge at boundary, it still coming in at the flow boundary)

I attach my princi file

File Attachment:

File Name: noer_conlit.f
File Size: 10 KB

Any advise would be welcome

Hi Tony,

was your subroutine running? You imposed QBOR before declarating the boundary conditions type...
Activate
LIEBOR%I(K)=KSORT
LIQBOR%I(K)=KENT
in the subrouting before giving QBOR.
Unfortunately I have no case to test, my last problem with sediment inflow at the boundary was two years ago with v6p1…

Gabi

Thanks Gabi

I had tried this already but unfortunately not only does it stop the solid discharge flux but also the suspended concentration flux entering at the flow boundary

I assume when the QBOR is set to zero for the solid discharge it also remains at zero for the suspended concentration flux ?

Hi,

no, I think it is because you changed the flag LIEBOR%I(K)=KENT to LIEBOR%I(K)=KSORT.

What is your aim? I do not get it. No bedload and just tracer?

Then try to follow the posts from Cath (and the connected ones) a year ago:
