Hello,

I was wondering how Tomawac behaves with a structured grid? Doesn't that favour the propagation in some directions over some others?

Let me know if my question is not clear enough,
Thanks in advance,

Pauline.

Hello Pauline,

sorry for the delay of the answer.

In theory, the use of a structured or of an unstructured grid should not have a significant effect on the TOMAWAC simulation results.
Please, let me know if you are running a model and you do not obtain similar results when using structured or unstructured grids. If so, could you provide me with some more details about your model ?

Thanks !
Best wishes,

Giovanni

Hi Giovanni,

Thanks for the reply - I had indeed a weird result using a structured grid but following your answer I checked again my input file and realised then that somehow the directional discretisation was coarser than in the simulation I ran with the unstructured grid, and probably too coarse (garden sprinkler effect!).

With a directional discretisation matching the one used in the unstructured grid case, the results were similar - and coherent.

Thanks,
Pauline.
