it fails again. Could you show me your systel config file and your compilation environment? I wish to compare your file with mine and find the difference.

if you change the systel.cfg file accordingly to waht I've sent, you should run a full clean compilation.
This means using option --clean with compile_telemac.py

Now I changed the systel.cfg file, uninstall VS code, my gfortran version is GCC 8.1, python version is 3. The compilation still fails. SO SAD!! Could you have any more suggestion?

join a full copy of the compilation listing
run the following command and post le listing.txt file you will obtain

compile_telemac.py >listing.txt 2>&1

Remove all sub directories in build to ensure a full compilation!

compile_telemac.py --clean --rescan >listing2.txt 2>&1

This is not the listing i hope.
No trace of the rescan option, so the clean option should not be take in account.
I think this is a python problem in you installation;
the option given to compile_telemac.py are not take in account
try the following command
python c:\opentelemac-mascaret\v8p1r0\scripts\python3\compile_telemac.py --clean --rescan >listing3.txt 2>&1
