Hi All,
I am new to using TELEMAC and am looking for some advice on getting it up and running on a windows machine. I have successfully installed, compiled and run some test cases with version v6p2 under python on a Linux (Unbuntu 12.04) machine but have been frustrated trying to get it running on my windows machine (XP).

I downloaded the pre-compiled version, both wintel32 and wingfortrans32, and followed the instructions from the online installation page as far as setting up paths and the SYSTELCFG variable. However from here I am confused, I don't want (at this stage) to compile so skipped that part and went directly to trying to run one of the test cases, which ran happily on my Linux box. I could not get it to run on my windows machine with various attempts ending with the same error message about no module named utils.files, see screenshot.

Any advice would be appreciated as I would like to get the pre-compiled windows version up and running before delving into obtaining a Fortran compiler etc.

Cheers,

Brad

Hello,

It looks like you do not have the ...\pytel\ subdirectory (within your TELEMAC install) in your PATH.

Alternatively, if you know your way around Linux, I could recommend you use the Oracle's VirtualBox software (open-source / free) to run on your Windows, within which you can install your Linux and other stuff and even share disk area with your Windows OS (without any dual boot or else).

Your VirtualBox can have a dynamic disk allocation (set a maximum to at least 15Gb if not more) and can use all your processors efficiently. Our tests show that your Linux performance is not compromised eventhough you run on top of your Windows OS.

Hope this helps,
Sébastien.
