open TELEMAC-MASCARET The mathematically superior suite of solvers

Hey everyone, I'm new to telemac and I'm doing my graduating project and I'm running a tidal simulation for Malaysian Coastline to be specific for Penang island in 3D. I tried many time but the results I keep getting shows very high velocities like up to 500,000 m/s. I'm not sure what is causing the problem so i hope you could help me.

Which release do you use?
Have you tried to use another release of TPXO global solution, a more recent like tpxo 8 or tpxo 9 ? Perhaps you should use a regional solution like the Indian Ocean solution.

Perhaps you can provide a better figure to see where the huge velocities are located.

If they are located close to the open boundaries, it may be due to shallows.
You can then try to use a regional solution like Indian Ocean solution and/or use the keywords MINIMUM DEPTH TO COMPUTE TIDAL VELOCITIES BOUNDARY CONDITIONS or MINIMUM DEPTH TO COMPUTE TIDAL VELOCITIES INITIAL CONDITIONS. Please read the TELEMAC-3D user and/or TELEMAC-3D reference manuals.

I Used TPXO Regional for the Indian Ocean. I also tried Atlas and Versions 7 & 9 of TPXO but they all show very high velocities. I use Telemac V8P1R2

If you upgrade your release to v8p2, you can use the 2 suggested keywords.
