Hi,

Although I hadn't used it before I believe there used to be a Python script available for joint SERAFIN results files together (actual final results, not partitions).

I have a simulation that crashed due to power outage which was restarted using computation continued and would like to join the files back together in a quick and easy way if possible.

Does anybody know if there is a post-processing tool/script provided with the source that is capable of doing this?

Thanks,
Toby

Hello Toby,

Just to be sure, do you mean you want to merge/gather split parallel files covering subdomains (partitioned) into one single one covering the whole extent?

You should try script called gretel.py (see the help with gretel.py) and run it in the temporary folder.

You can also run an example with option -t to save the temporary folder and get a .par ASCII file. It can be an example of output to gretel.py with option --input-file

Hope this helps,

Hi Chi-Tuan,

Thanks for the reply. I'm familiar with the gretel script and use it quite often.

I'm actually interested in joing two complete SERAFIN results files. For instance when a simulation is cut short for whatever reason, sometimes I use computation continued to carry it on. This issue is then I'm left with two separate results files which are a bit of a pain to process.

Thanks,

Hello again Toby,

In that case, I would try run_telfile.py with option merge, use the -h help option:
run_telfile.py -h
and
run_telfile.py merge -h

If it is the script you want with this option (merge), I would recommend you to use the latest release v8p3r2 (just available since the end of last week) because a bug has been fixed since release v8p3r1 (or use the main)

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Thanks very much for this info.

I managed to use the script but it is quite slow and very memory heavy. Also recommending me to use the 'Hermes API' over the 'SerafinFile'. Been waiting a while now to get any output.

It would actually be great if there was simply an option in TELEMAC to merge the computation continued results if requested. Not sure how difficult this would be to implement though.
