Dear All,

Just a quick question I am using TELEMAC-3D with VERTICAL TURBULENCE MODEL =2. I was reading the manual and it says that in this model the user can further specify the choice of MIXING LENGTH MODEL.

I am not doing any such thing but getting very good results. I just want to confirm if the default value of MIXING LENGTH MODEL option is 1 corresponding to Standard Prandtl's model.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Sumit

Hello,

Yes the option 1 (Prandtl's model) is the default value (you can probably see that in the user manual (not checked), and also (checked)in the dictionary which is the reference as it is really what reads the program, see .../telemac/telemac3d/tel3d_v6p1/lib/tel3dv6p1.dico.

Nezu & Nakagawa (option 3) would be preferable in most cases as it is adapted to free surface flows and gives no turbulent diffusion at the free surface, it is however not convenient if you have turbulence generated by wind at the free surface.
