I am working on a 3D estuary model with telemac 3D V6P2. I am using longitude and latitude geographic system coordinates comprises between -2° to 0° of longitude and 43° to 45° of north latitude. My geometry file was made with bluekenue. In my steering file I indicate SYSTEME GEOGRAPHIQUE : 1.
When I launch the run it stops after few iterations and after examination of the results, it seems that Telemac considered coordinates as meter so that velocity values are too large.
Can you help me ?

Hello Philippe,

You are right. Be default, TELEMAC expects meters for coordinates units of meshes.
In version 6.2, the GEOGRAPHIC SYSTEM keyword is only used for the computation of boundary conditions for tide.

In version 6.3 (and patches on the trunk or the last tagged release, I do not remember), Jean-Michel has provided a solution to deal with longitude/latitude meshes. Please read the topic www.opentelemac.org/index.php/kunena/21-...ds-and-settings-v6p3 that may help you.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan

Hello,

In the next version we shall definitely come back to longitude-latitude given in degrees, radians seem hardly used and have confused users (and developers...). Also Tomawac expects degrees.

Regards,

JMH
