Hi everyone,

I am trying to implement weirs inside a mesh in BK. I want to apply a rating curve inside the model to simulate the effect of potential weirs (the black lines in the picture).
It seems that Blue Kenue do not allow me to fix a rating curve condition unless the segment is at the model's boundary.

Is there a way to apply such conditions or do I have to divide my model ?
Thank you,

Regards,
Pablo

Hi Pablo

In Telemac, Weirs are only available as a special management boundary condition so you should create some island where you want to add the weir.
In you case, you should create some wall at the place of your black lines and after that you will have the possibility to place weirs.
Hope this helps
Christophe

Hi,

Just a side note: from your picture I guess that you created your mesh in a UTM-like coordinate system (with say 6-7+ digits). The fact that your boundaries do no follow straight lines is typical of that, and your mesh should change appearance when zoom in/out. This is due to the fact that BK can only manage single precision numbers.

A classic workaround is to shift all you input data in a local coordinate system located near 0;0 (Blue Kenue only).

Best regards
PL

Thank you for your answers!

C.coulet, I will implement walls for the weirs, I guess I could also create other walls parallel to the weirs with entries boundary conditions (known Q and H). That way everything that comes out from the model at the weirs boundaries will come back downstream.

Pilou1253, You are right! Thank you! I thought it was a limitation from BK. I come from aquaveo's SMS, there are some BK specificities I'm still learning.

Best Regards,
Pablo

HI Pablo,

If there are any BK issues that you encounter and/or would suggest as improvements... please let me know. I am trying to keep track of everything that I hear about and will work towards improving BK where needed (as my time and resources permit)...

Kindly,
Alan
