Hi, My name is Louise and at the moment I am doing my master thesis at Lund University where I am studying how degradation of bacteria can be modelled with help of TELEMAC. I am new to Telemac and really enjoy working with it. However have some thoughts concerning Waqtel.

I want to use information about secchi depth in my script but do not clearly understand how secchi depth is determined in Waqtel. Are there any equations behind how secchi depth is decided? Is secchi depth in telemac depending on season? I have not found any manual to Waqtel, are there any that I can use except for the examples and the manuals for the other modules.

I am very greatful for your help and looking forward to work more with Telemac.

Best Wishes
Louise

Hello Louise

Secchi depth is an input for Waqtel and is managed by the keyword SECCHI DEPTH. This depth is usually given by modeler and is measured in the field. This depth is measured using a disk (called Secchi disk) which is introduced in water from up to down. The Secchi depth is the depth after which the disk disappears. The same experience is done but from down to up. The final value is the mean between the 2 measurements.
In final this depth gives an idea about the turbidity rate of water, more water is clear more the Secchi depth is bigger.

I hope this helps
