Hi members of opentelemac community,

I'm looking for feedbacks (outside France) in terms of real time use of models in estuaries for flood (water level) forecasting.

I know this forum is mainly focused on the modules but I would like to use the forum to get experiences from the community.

- 1d models are very commonly used for this purpose with shortcomings. Mascaret cannot take into account the wind effect and it's not always possible to take into account the correct inflow by imposing a rising water elevation at the downstream boundary (at the flow)...

- 2d models can deal with wind and accomodate good implementation of the boundary conditions (t2d offers great possibility with thompson condition) but not really operational for this purpose...

Do you have any example of situation where 1d modeling is (or not) working ?
Any case of telemac model used in this context ?

Thanks for sharing your experiences,
