TOPIC: Error in MESH PARTITIONING STEP

Error in MESH PARTITIONING STEP 1 year 9 months ago #42021

I'm using mpi to run my model, but an error occurred. Then I view the file partel_T3DGEO.log and find the error below.
THE MESH PARTITIONING STEP STARTS
 BEGIN PARTITIONING WITH METIS
  RUNTIME OF METIS 0.0000000E+00 SECONDS
THE MESH PARTITIONING STEP HAS FINISHED
 ERROR IN BOUNDARIES J= 374
 WHILE NPTFR_P(I)= 248
 WHILE L= 248

PLANTE: PROGRAM STOPPED AFTER AN ERROR
 RETURNING EXIT CODE: 2

Is my mesh file wrong? Or other reason?
I don't have any idea. Please help me, Thanks!

Hi
With a small mesh like yours (~4000 nodes), there is no real need to use parallel computation, you could run it in sequential.
By the way, I think the mesh is too rough which potentially leads to this kind of problem when trying to split it in some subdomains...
How many partition did you request?

Christophe

Hi

Thanks for your replie.

As your suggestion, I run it in sequential and another error occured.

By the way, I requested two partitions when using parallel computation.

Hi, can't help you with your problem, but .log files can not be shared on the forum. Please change extension to .txt so people can open it.
Cheers,

Hello,

The issue you show with the sequential run is a TELEMAC-3D issue. TELEMAC-3D cannot work with crossing horizontal planes. That means you have an issue with one or several options in the steering file and/or with your mesh.
You should at least upload your steering file + potential user Fortran files if you want some help.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

Your reply helped me to find out that the reason for the error was because of user_fortran.
I've successfully run it in sequential.
But I don't know what's matter with my mesh. I still can't run it in parallel. Could you give me some advice?

Hello,

I came across this error several times, and it was due to a bad generation of the geometry file.
I have regenerated your selafin file by creating a new selafin object in Blue Kenue and drag and dropping your water depth layer in it, and it seems to work.
Find attached the new selafin file, and when you encounter this problem try to regenerate your geometry file.
Let me know if this work.

Kind regards,
Jean-Paul

Dear Paul,

Your reply was so critical and totally solved my problem. I did have a problem with the geometry file, I made an error about ipobo while making it.
Thank you very much!
