Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there are tools, other than BlueKenue, to mesh very large models for use with T2D (more than 12M elements)? BlueKenue is too slow.
Let me explain:
I am dealing with urban ponding areas in a large city somewhere in the middle-east where my mesh size varies between 1m to 50m (Some internal roads are 6m width) and the area is simply huge. I would like to generate a good quality mesh but in reasonable time (less than 2 days for example) on a HP Z640 series workstation. Eventually generate the mesh using all available cores (in parallel quoi :-) )

Thank you,
Aissa

Hello Aissa

Very interesting problem.
I cannot give you an in-hand solution but I could advise you to have a look to GMSH which seems to be a good candidate.

It's in my plan to test it but didn't done yet.

Regards
Christophe

Hello,

maybe you already know it but as a freeware solution you could try Basemesh from the colleagues of the ETH Zürich: www.basement.ethz.ch/services/Tools/BASEmesh
It is a QGIS plugin which uses Triangle as mesh generator. However I didn't try Basemesh for such large meshes. Triangle itself should be fast since it is famous especially for that.

Best regards,
Clemens
