Hello everyone! I'm excited to share that I've successfully learned how to create the river channel mesh downstream of the reservoir. Now, I'm facing a couple of challenges crucial for my flood inundation simulation.

First, I have the initial water depth settings: INITIAL CONDITIONS = 'CONSTANT DEPTH' with INITIAL DEPTH = 3. But I'm unsure how to configure these settings so that they only apply to the river channel mesh area I've created.

Second, I'm eager to set this specific area (channel mesh) as "floodable". Could someone guide me on the steps to achieve this? This would greatly facilitate my simulation of flood inundation downstream of the reservoir.

Thank you in advance!

You have a couple of ways to set spatially varying initial conditions.

First, following the user mannual, set key "INITIAL CONDITIONS" be "PARTICULAR", and code "USER_CONDIN_H" or "USER_CONDIN_UV" subroutines. You have to tell the global index of those nodes you want to set with particular values.

Alternatively, pre-run to write out a restart file, and then revise its values using scripts, such as function "alter" of "pretel.manip_telfile", so as to write out a revised restart file in which values are what you need. You may need to revise the scripts to be able to do the revision.
