TOPIC: Diffusion coefficient issue with multiple sources

Diffusion coefficient issue with multiple sources 1 day 4 hours ago #46480

Hello,

I am working on a 2D model (v8p0) with 12 source points and 1 tracer, coupled with WAQTEL - DEGRADATION LAW. The contaminant I am simulating is fecal coliform bacteria. The variables I am calibrating are T90 (first order law in waqtel) and the diffusion coefficient. When I varied the diffusion coefficient, I noticed significant changes at the first source point, but the rest of the source points remained almost unchanged.

Could it be that the diffusion coefficient is only affecting the first source point and not the rest? How can I resolve this issue?
I am using the k-epsilon turbulence model.

Thank you. Best regards,
Lucia Pairetti

Hi
What you're describing sounds like a bug.
Before further investigation, you should try to update to the latest version (9.0). Maybe this was already corrected...

Hello! thank you for your answer.
I have just tested removing the first source point, and the next one was not affected, so it isn't a bug. Therefore, I imagine that the influence of the diffusion coefficient in the areas around each source point is related with the characteristics of the flow and turbulence in that area.
Is there any way to calibrate the transverse dispersion? No matter how much I modify the diffusion coefficient, I do not notice any changes in the width of the resulting plume.
Thanks,
