Hello,

I'm trying to calibrate the evolution of surface and bottom temperature for a stratified model in a port.

The problem is that I get the same temperature for all the water column after 2 days (see the figure attached with the dotted lines for modelled temperature).
I dont't know what is the best turbulence model and advection schemes to use and what parameters should I tune.

The calibration of horizontal velocities at top and bottom is quite acceptable.

Thank you for your Help

Hello,

Sorry for the delay.
Which version do you use for your simulation?

Is it possible to read your FORTRAN FILE?

If you want to use the k-epsilon in one single direction, the right implementation is done from v7p2r1. In v7p2r0, it was wrong.

You may try to use the k-epsilon model in both directions (HORIZONTAL TURBULENCE MODEL = 3 and VERTICAL TURBULENCE MODEL = 3).
You may also try to use a mixing length model on the vertical.

The COEFFICIENT FOR HORIZONTAL DIFFUSION OF TRACERS = 1.E-6 may be too small.
The ACCURACY FOR DIFFUSION OF TRACERS = 1.E-6 may be too big.

What about the water depth? Is it deep or not? Is your area very dependent on the weather (wind, air temperature, other meteo parameters)? You may have to use the exchange with atmosphere.

Is it also possible to read your wind and air temperature data?

If you change the NUMBER OF HORIZONTAL LEVELS, is there any difference?

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan
