TOPIC: Tide modeling problem

Tide modeling problem 4 years 4 months ago #36385

Hello,
I model the tide in an estuary using Telemac 2D, 3D (v7p2r1). But after several simulation cases, I still observe a problem on the low tide curve modeled upstream of the estuary. After verification, this is observed in areas of positive bathymetry.
I think that the simulation problem observed at low tide is caused by the bathymetry. But I know how to solve it.
Find attached my case file, a ppt presenting the modelled tide downstream and upstream and the selafin file.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards.

Hello Yann,

You are right, you may have shallows in your estuary (I cannot see only with the mesh). If you have bottom elevation above 0, the free surface cannot be below.

If you really want to have lower free surface, you can locally change bottom elevation (with USER_CORFON or USER_T3D_CORFON subroutines) but the flow will be locally changed.

Anyway, please read the rules of this forum: use the latest release (currently v8p1r1, v7p2 is 3 years old) and do not double send topics (I deleted the other one).

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan
