Hello,

I am trying to model a 135° bend with Telemac3d and I am facing the following issue:

The calculation seems to work well for a simulation without a defined topography (z=0m). But when I am introducing a bottom elevation with the keyword "BOTTOM" in the .slf file, the simulation crahses always after the first time step.

I tried the entire setup (same .cas file) with a different mesh and it worked. This is why, I am afraid that Telemac somehow has issues with my mesh and cannot put the horizontal layers on top of it. I am not sure if this is really the problem, but since the exact same setup worked with a different mesh I think that this might be the case.

I attached all the simulation files and the .sortie file of the crashed simulation.

Has someone already encountered a similar issue or are there restrictions regarding the mesh?

Best regards,
Jakob

Hello,

If you use TIDAL FLATS = NO, you ensure that you never have dry areas during your computation. It is a means to accelerate your computation. But the drawback is if you have dry areas, for sure your computation will crash.

Your initial condition is constant elevation = 0.985 m and you have bottom elevation greater than this value (at least for 1 point). That means that you have dry areas. That is why you may have the error message:
INTERCROSS AT POINT 1
LOWER POINT : 1.0000000000000000
HIGHER POINT: 0.99985954717998327
DIFFERENCE : -1.4045282001673431E-004
DEPTH : -5.6181128006697705E-004

PLANTE: PROGRAM STOPPED AFTER AN ERROR
RETURNING EXIT CODE: 2

My 1st advice is to use TIDAL FLATS = YES at least (and read the manual for specific treatments).

I have not seen your .sortie file (please use an extension enabled by this forum, e.g. .txt), but your error message may be as the one I have quoted.

Hope this helps,

Chi-Tuan
