Hello every one,
recently I modeled simple rectangular channel (L=6m,B=2m,H=1m, MESH size is 3 cm ) with the TELEMAC-3D for check vertical velocity profile,I got these parameters for my CAS file:

FRICTION COEFFICIENT FOR THE BOTTOM =50
VERTICAL TURBULENCE MODEL =3
HORIZONTAL TURBULENCE MODEL =3
TURBULENCE MODEL FOR LATERAL SOLID BOUNDARIES =2
LAW OF FRICTION ON LATERAL BOUNDARIES =5
FRICTION COEFFICIENT FOR LATERAL SOLID BOUNDARIES =0.05
MIXING LENGTH MODEL =1
NON-HYDROSTATIC VERSION =YES
VELOCITY VERTICAL PROFILES =2;2

Also I have the experimental results of this rectangular channel.I did comparison between these two results (you can see it in attachment) and I saw , the maximum velocity occur in water surface in TELEMAC-3D but in real test the maximum velocity occur below the water surface according to secondary currents,
could you please answer my question that why TELEMAC can not consider secondary current in channels ? is that one of the assumption in TELEMAC algorithms that Ignore the secondary currents in channels or My simulation have problems and I need to correct my modeling.

Thank you very much for your helps

Hello,

I am not really sure, but I think this cannot be found with a mixing-length model. This maximum which is not at the free surface is due to a combination of friction on the lateral boundaries and turbulence, and probably at least a k-epsilon model is requested, but this has not yet been investigated. I know that it can be found with a Reynolds Stress Tensor model.

JMH
