Hello everyone,

I want to use the k-omega turbulence model in TELEMAC3D, but I cannot get much more information(governing equations, parameters?) about this model from the user manual or the book of Hervouet,J.H.

Another question is which turbulence model is more appropriate for a stratified estuary with complex artificial structure?

Any helps about k-omega model is appreciated.

With best regards,
Liwei

Hello,

Here is a reference on the k-omega model:

www.tfd.chalmers.se/~lada/postscript_files/tfd9613.pdf

for me it is a variant of the k-epsilon model, epsilon being replaced by the omega variable, but basically it is the same principle. I am not sure that it makes much difference with our large meshes applications in free surface flows. However with Telemac-3D I would rather take k-epsilon when there are stratifications because it has been more tested, and we do have implemented the damping effect of stratifications on turbulence.

With best regards,

Hello everyone,

I am using telemac3d, v7p2. I have a running k-epsilon model of a straight laboratory channel. I would like to change for the k-omega turbulence model, however the diffusion of omega is giving NaN, and Exceeding Maximum Iterations.

Does anybody have experience with k-omega modeling? Are there specific options I have to choose for the k-omega model?

Thank you and best regards,
Oliver

Hello,

As Jean-Michel wrote more than one year and a half, the k-omega model in TELEMAC is less used and less validated than the k-epsilon model. You should better use the k-epsilon model.
